Umbrellas?
Do people tend to carry umbrellas Seattle when it's the rainy season? Or will it mark you a newcomer? I am hoping to move there, and frankly, it would make me a little sad to not use my pretty umbrella anymore. :)

I work downtown and I can tell you that a lot of people carry umbrellas, so don't toss yours if you love it. HOWEVER!! It can get really windy downtown (the wind blows up from the Sound) and an umbrella will be useless on days like that, so a better option is a hooded rain coat. Nothing too heavy (like down) because it's not that cold, but a good Gore-tex type coat will go a long way. Keep the umbrella, use it when you want, don't bring it downtown if it's windy, and WELCOME TO THE NORTHWEST!! :-)

i'm looking for stores/websites that sell cute umbrellas. it rains alot here, and it sucks. i'd prefer the umbrella to be able to fold up small, be compact. any help appreciated. :)

Burberry makes some really cute ones that fold up to be pretty small. They aren't very expensive either!!

What is the difference in camera umbrellas?
There are different camera umbrellas. Silver, White, Black, Black with a white interior. What is the best umbrella for portraits and still life? I would like to purchase a 32" umbrella. Amazon and B&H Photo sell so many different kinds.

We start backwards first. You do not need to start off with the black or black with white interior. Remember white is going to be more flattering to your subject especially women. Silver will be more harsh, and is very useful in product photography. Since you are bouncing the light into an umbrella even the silver is going to be softer than direct flash and as such more preferred. You don' give more details, such as: how far will you be from your subject. And especially how powerful is your flash. I always tried to get an f/8 reading with my flash meter. As far as brands you get what you pay for. That said my use ( several times a year) economical umbrellas worked just fine. Hope this helps.

What can I do to freshen up my faded outdoor patio umbrellas?
As everyone knows, outdoor umbrellas are quite expensive and it seems crazy to have to replace them every season. My patio umbrellas were dark brown at the start of last spring/summer but have now faded tremendously. Short of buying new ones, can I use RIT dye or spray paint? Any suggestions?

mom says yup - as long as its made of natural fabric them 'brellas come off with a bit of effort - remember how you did it so you can put it back on take the canvas and dye it it a big tub - remember to turn it frequently or you'll get stripes on it lay it out on the grass and hose it to rinse it - then restring it to the umbrella frame - your gonna have to tug a bit to get it back to shape let it dry slowly like in the garage out of the sun for a couple days - then put it back out
